The year the carddidn't come.
Every year, my Mom sends me a birthday card with a note in her own terrible handwriting. It is a small thing but it is our thing.
Then one year, I didn't get a card.
The next time I saw her, I casually mentioned my birthday, expecting a smiling apology. Instead I searched her face for recognition but there was none. I was witnessing her memory fade, and I knew that quiet tradition between us had come to an end.
I built dontbelated because regular handwritten notes from another human leaves something lasting and special. I want everyone to experience that special feeling for as long as possible. Let us help you stay connected.

As part of the service, we ask that you give us the opportunity to select amazing card designs for you so that you can focus on the real gift - the words and memories you want to share.
Our service is to remove as much of the friction as possible but we would not write the message for you. We believe that the time you take to write the note in your own handwriting is irreplaceable.
We are here for you. Your words are your own but here are some thoughts to consider. We all have an opportunity to be a difference-maker for someone. Who knows, you may even make a difference in yourself. You got this!
- Personal-Be specific - make it about them, only for them-Be empathetic - Put yourself in their shoes. What season of life are they in right now. Let them know that you see them.-Be nostalgic - Reference a shared memory. Even if its just the fact that its been a while since we were in touch.-Be fun - You do not have to create a framed portrait but your sketch is a unique gift.-Be encouraging - You may not know when a kind word is just what someone needs.-Be forgiving (to yourself) - This is not a perfection test, neatness does not count. Scratch out a letter, replace a mis-spelled word. its ok.-Be authentic - You are enough.
- Professional-Be "that" kind of leader or colleague-Be specific - Don’t just say thanks for “what you do”. Thank your colleague for what they did specifically-Be appreciative - Let them know you do not take them for granted.-Be encouraging - You may not know when a kind word is just what someone needs.-Be a reminder - Stay top of mind with clients. Remind the interviewer that you appreciate the time no matter what the decision. Leave a good impression.-Be authentic - When most of us have the world’s information at our fingertips, the differentiator is you. Share the value that you uniquely have to offer.
